Dover has long been one of England’s busiest ferry ports. Most of the ferries make their way across to France, although other destinations are served as well. Plus over the centuries it has been a very strategic position and helped to protect England from invading hordes.

Because it is a ferry port, a lot of people will just drive into Dover and out again. But the town has lots of places to stay which means you can stay here in order to explore the surrounding Kent countryside. And if the weather is rougher than expected, you may need to stay here a little longer anyway. Here we’ll look at some of the places to stay in Dover.

Churchill Hotel is part of the Best Western group and is ideally situated, close to Dover’s ferry terminals. Plus because of its location it is provided with uninterrupted views of the sea. Although it is housed in a listed building the rooms are still well equipped and extremely comfortable. The hotel’s restaurant has magnificent views across the Channel. Plus if you fancy being spoilt for a little while then take full advantage of its Health, Hair and Beauty facilities.

Although the White Cliffs Hotel is not on the coast as you may expect from its name but it provides you with good quality comfortable accommodation in a rural setting. You will be pleasantly surprised by the individuality this hotel offers. It is situated not far from one of the best beaches in Kent, namely St Margaret’s bay and is still only a short drive from the ferry terminals. It is a traditional Kentish weather boarded inn that has been lovely restored by the owners and it even boasts a micro spa. Which makes it the perfect place to stay to get away from it all in Kent.

Walletts Court Hotel is located not far from Dover and offers a spa facility so you can really relax and unwind when you spend a weekend here. The hotel is in a scenic area and also has some large gardens for you to explore. The hotel offers traditional accommodation in the old manor house as well as newer rooms in the converted hay barns.

It also offers plenty to help you unwind after a busy day. There is a swimming pool and also a steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. Plus for something a little more indulgent during your stay book yourself in for a massage or some beauty treatments.
