Outdoors – Tips on Finding the Best Treks in Himalaya
It’s a great idea to have a pair of long socks when you go hiking. Mother Nature’s playground is unknown and you never know what you’ll come face to face with. Many of the critters and animals you see out there are cute, but some can be quite dangerous. Some really long socks can cover up your legs all the way up to the calf to keep you protected. Being protected will allow you to feel safer when you’re out hiking, because you will be safe.
Animals and critters such as snakes and spiders are usually silent and can definitely be deadly. If you wear a long and thick sock you’ll be much better off in the wild if you were to have a dangerous encounter. However, a good pair of extra long socks will be thick and provide more cushioning which will make your hiking shoes more comfortable.
You don’t want to be under-equipped and you don’t want to be over-equipped either. Remember, you have to carry all your stuff yourself, or pay someone to do it. If it’s not going to rain, perhaps you don’t need a poncho! On the other hand, if it’s going to snow, you might want to bring a warm jacket and/or a sleeping bag. Packing just the right stuff comes with experience. So read up on gear recommendations online before you go.
If you tend to hike during the warm periods of the year, you’ll benefit greatly from owning a pair of moisture wicking hiking socks. Your foot will be able to stay fresh and cool because cool air will be able to get into the shoe because of the materials used in the sock. If you’ve ever spent an entire day in a cotton sock you know just how wet cotton socks get.
Trekking in Nepal is another great option. Contrary to India, Nepal often has trekking lodges along the trails, making it unnecessary for you to carry any camping gear and hire porters. This makes it very simple to trek in Nepal. The little downside is that since it is so popular, the trekking trails can sometimes get a bit crowded. It’s nothing like Grand Central Station of course, but you just don’t get that feeling of being alone in the wilderness.
Trekking in Tibet and Bhutan has one thing in common: All tours must be arranged through a government recognized trekking agency. There is no independent trekking allowed in these two Himalayan countries. While the pre-arranged treks are often more expensive, it makes everything very easy for you with a guide
