When the majority of people consider vacations in Great Britain they mostly only think about resorts close to the sea such as Whitby, Bognor Regis, Great Yarmouth and Margate. Sometimes families may discuss having a vacation in a particular county in England for example Devon in the south of England but rarely do they think about taking a short break in the city of Exeter. The following article introduces various reasons why an Exeter vacation is a great idea.

One of the first reasons for having a break in Exeter is that the accommodation is reasonably priced with bed and breakfast accommodation in Exeter available at about £25 a night and numerous rooms around the forty to fifty pounds range.

Obviously you will need more than a minimal price to attract you to visit a city and Exeter certainly has plenty to offer the potential visitor. You will find that there are a great many first class visitor attractions in the city centre and even more within a short distance and if that isn’t sufficient then the city of Plymouth is but a short distance and you will find that there is also cheap Plymouth bed and breakfast accommodation and even more fantastic tourist attractions. Plus you will find that there are masses of astounding places to visit along the nearby coast.

Where To Stay In Exeter

The Drewe Arms
This accommodation is superb, it’s rooms are budget but the actual building is a picturesque 17th century thatched inn on the famous Two Moors Way walking route. It is important to note that it is about 15m from Exeter city center. If you require more luxury the inn also has four-poster rooms available.

The Crawford Hotel
This hotel accommodation is far closer to Exeter city center, roughly 1.6 km. It is a two star establishment with comfortable en suite rooms and, crucially, 24 hour access to rooms, excellent if you are going to be getting back very late or need access during the day. You will find there is Free wireless internet access available in public areas of the hotel.

Visitor Attractions

In the city there are just a small number of tourist attractions worth visiting including; the Royal Albert Museum, St Peter’s Cathedral and Rougemont Castle. As I mentioned earlier there is a small number of nearby seaside resorts to see the finest being the quaint villages of Seaton, Beer and Sidmouth.

Further away, between Plymouth and Exeter is the hardly populated moorland of the Dartmoor National Park with the general area having several tourist attractions worth visiting including Buckland Abbey, A La Ronde and Buckfast Abbey on the main route, to Plymouth. Along the way you will pass the Torbay area, which includes Torquay, Paignton and Brixham and is often called the English Riviera.

Exeter truly is a great city in which to have a vacation however why not discuss having a 2 destination vacation and spend a couple of nights/days in a really plush hotel in Plymouth and travel around the gorgeous coastline in between these two excellent vacation destinations?
