It’s that time of the year when summer holidays are being thought about?  Usually I like to travel abroad for our summer holiday, mainly because I do like to get a nice suntan to see me through the dreary winter months.

However, if the truth be told, this year I am not sure I can be putting up with all the hassles associated with travelling abroad. It doesn’t matter how we plan our holiday, be it at the beginning of the school break, or right at the end, somebody, somewhere is on strike ruining my whole holiday. It can be so upsetting when all year you have worked hard to put enough money away for your one holiday of the year and then some idiots at the airport decides it would be a good time to go on strike.

It’s not just the strikes that can delay you though. To make sure you get through all of the security checks, it would seem you have to be at the airport at least 3 hours before your actual flight departure time.Don’t get me wrong, we all want to be safe and secure when we are flying, but as everybody knows that August is a busy month for holidays, perhaps it might be wise to employ additional staff to deal with extra passengers.

Bearing all this in mind, I think this year I am going to buck my usual trend and have a look at what some of these UK family holidays have to offer.I know there’s no guarantee that I will see any sunshine, but I don’t think it will be the worst thing that has ever happened to me.  I am sure there are some brilliant UK Activity Holidays that we could all get involved in and surely that is what it is all about, spending time with the family.

I have some fond memories of a school trip taken to the Brecon Beacons when I was 13, so it might be a good idea to start my search by looking at some Hotels in Wales and see what delights they can offer us as a family.

One thing I am very happy about is that this year I have no schedules I have to adhere to, no waiting in airport lounges for hours on end and best of all no miserable passport control personnel to endure. This UK holiday really does have a lot of good points.

Now all that is left to do is somehow persuade everybody else in the family that my plan is brilliant, I have a feeling my female powers of persuasion might swing into action!
